The Israeli rights group B’Tselem titled ‘Our Genocide’, accuses Israel of systematically dismantling Gaza’s social, political and cultural foundations through targeted destruction of police, schools and heritage sites.
It documents 40,000 orphans, 658,000 children denied education, and deliberate creation of power vacuums filled by armed gangs allegedly weaponised by Israel.
The report highlights the destruction of 90% of Gaza’s schools and half its cultural landmarks, including millennia-old archaeological sites, alongside alleged looting of antiquities.
In the West Bank, settler violence and restrictions have paralysed education and community life. B’Tselem researcher Karim Jubran warns Israel’s policies aim to “break the spirit” of Palestinians through checkpoints, arrests and erasure of collective memory.
The report frames these actions as components of an ongoing genocide, with intergenerational trauma threatening Palestinian survival.

Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim reports.
Ehab Bessaiso is the former Palestinian Authority Culture Minister.
He explains the significance of Israel’s systematic destruction of Gaza’s history.
