Israel is planning to restrict how food aid is delivered in Gaza, according to leaked documents. Under the proposed plan, American companies would take over distribution from the UN and humanitarian groups. Aid would be managed by an international foundation and limited to one parcel per family each week at designated hubs. Only 60 trucks a day would be allowed—far less than needed. Humanitarian agencies and the UN have rejected the plan, calling it a form of pressure and control that could worsen an already dire crisis.
Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo asked the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General for a response to Israel’s expansion of operations in Gaza.
