Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy says Russia has carried out one of its biggest aerial attacks on the capital overnight.
Officials say the hours-long raid – involving hundreds of drones and seven missiles – affected seven of the 10 districts, and injured several people.
The Mayor of Kyiv says air defence units were activated to fend off the strikes.
Russian drone strikes also targeted the port city of Odesa, hitting a maternity hospital and residential buildings.
At least two people have been killed.
Meanwhile Russian officials say a barrage of Ukrainian drones forced the suspension of flights from airports in Moscow and St Petersburg.
