On the ground in Gaza, Israeli forces have again shot and killed Palestinians desperate to find food. At least 20 people have been killed at a food distribution point near the Nitzarem Corridor. On Monday, 14 Palestinians were killed near the US and Israeli back-to-Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s aid Center in southern Rafa.
Liz Allcock of Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) condemned Israel’s lethal force against civilians seeking food aid in Gaza, citing deaths near distribution points in recent days. She criticised the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” (GHF) for its chaotic, inadequate aid parcels, containing minimal-calorie dry goods, which Palestinians risk their lives to access. The packages, designed for seven days, force repeated perilous journeys, with many selling them for cash to buy scarce fresh food. Allcock highlighted a catastrophic cycle: no fuel limits water access, worsening malnutrition and disease. Aid parcels now sell for $450 on black markets, while flour costs $800, pricing out starving families. Returning to Gaza in June, she described unprecedented despair, with colleagues calling the past three months the worst in 20 years. Hourly airstrikes and siege conditions have erased hope, leaving survival as the only focus. Allcock emphasised that Israel’s restrictions violate Palestinians’ right to humanitarian access, with medical facilities overwhelmed by gunshot wounds from aid site attacks. Her team works amid constant danger, symbolising Gaza’s collapse into a “hour-by-hour” struggle for existence.
