Israeli forces continue to bombard the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of dozens of Palestinians, including 11 sheltering in a school in Gaza City and four travelling near Deir el-Balah. The polio vaccination campaign is now in its second day, with mobile teams seeking out children under 10 to immunise them against poliovirus. Polio was recently detected in Deir el-Balah, where the first case of partial paralysis in a child was reported. On the first day, over 72,000 children were vaccinated. However, the ongoing violence prevents full protection, leaving children vulnerable amidst repeated attacks. Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reports from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
